I am excited to announce that my new book, The Reflective Recorder, has now been published by choralseaspress.com! In this book, I address differentiated instruction in the music classroom by offering opportunities for every student of varying levels of ability.
I’m a passionate music educator and after retiring from 23 years teaching music in Ontario Public Schools, am now running my private studio, Descant Music. From there, I teach private lessons and have also branched out into the community with all kinds of classes for babies to adults at Bob’s Music Plus here in Pembroke.
Maintaining a level of performance is also important to me and I accomplish that through playing flute and piccolo in our local orchestra and small ensembles, as well as working as a church musician at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, where I play organ and lead both Senior and Junior choirs.
Writing this blog is, to me, the next way of extending my experience to fellow musicians and music educators. Follow me on twitter @descantmusic and check out my facebook page,https://www.facebook.com/DescantMusic
